How it began

A Love for Bulldogs That Grew Into Something More

Abner's journey with English Bulldogs began when his father-in-law gave him one of his own.

It didn't take long for Abner to understand why people become so attached to Bulldogs. Their unmistakable personalities, affectionate nature, loyalty, and sometimes comical way of looking at life quickly won him over.

That first Bulldog sparked an interest that eventually grew into breeding.

Over the years, the King family also came to appreciate Boston Terriers and the energetic, friendly personalities they bring to a home. Together, the two breeds have become an important part of their family and something they genuinely enjoy sharing with others.

More than 15 years later, the enjoyment is still there.

For Abner and his family, every litter brings another opportunity to watch individual personalities emerge and eventually see those puppies become treasured members of other families.

Our mission

More Than Raising Puppies

After more than 15 years, breeding has become woven into the story of the King family.

It has given their children opportunities to grow up caring for animals. It has allowed them to meet families from different places and backgrounds. And it has given them the privilege of watching puppies they raised become important parts of other families.

Those relationships are what make the work meaningful.

For the King family, responsible breeding is ultimately about stewardship — caring well for their dogs, raising puppies thoughtfully, and recognizing the responsibility that comes with placing a living animal into someone else's care.

"There is nothing quite like the steady companionship of a good dog by your side."

About Kings Family Companions

At Kings Family Companions, raising puppies is about more than producing a litter. It is about caring well for the dogs entrusted to their family and helping puppies begin their lives surrounded by the people, activity, and everyday experiences that prepare them to become loved companions.

Located in the countryside of Ronks, Pennsylvania, Abner King and his family have been raising English Bulldogs and Boston Terriers since 2010. What started with one English Bulldog and a growing appreciation for the breed eventually became a meaningful part of their family’s life.

Today, the King family continues to raise puppies with an emphasis on thoughtful care, family interaction, and helping each puppy find a home where they can be loved for years to come.

Raised as Part of Our Family

With seven children in the King household, life is rarely quiet.

That everyday family activity becomes part of the environment in which their puppies are raised. From an early age, puppies experience the normal sights, sounds, movement, and interaction that come with being around both children and adults.

The King family believes these early experiences matter.

Puppies are not simply waiting until they are old enough to leave. Those first weeks are an important period of growth, learning, and development. Regular interaction and handling help puppies become accustomed to people and begin building the confidence they will need when they transition into their new homes.

The family enjoys spending time with their dogs and puppies and making sure each one receives the attention and care they need.

For the King children, raising puppies has also become part of growing up — teaching responsibility, patience, gentleness, and the importance of caring well for animals that depend on them.

Life on Our Organic Produce Farm

Dogs are only one part of life for the King family.

They also operate an organic produce farm in Lancaster County, growing crops such as onions, strawberries, potatoes, and other produce throughout the year.

At first glance, farming and raising puppies may seem like very different things. In reality, both require many of the same qualities.

Good farming requires patience. It requires consistency. It means paying attention to small details, understanding that healthy growth takes time, and faithfully caring for something even when no one else is watching.

The King family brings that same mindset to their animals.

Their rural setting provides fresh air, open countryside, and a family environment where work, animals, and everyday life are naturally woven together.

It is a way of life centered around responsibility and stewardship — caring well for what has been entrusted to them.

English Bulldogs We Love

There is simply no mistaking an English Bulldog.

From their distinctive appearance to their lovable personalities, Bulldogs have a way of making themselves part of the family.

The King family especially appreciates their affectionate and loyal nature. While every Bulldog has a personality of its own, they are often devoted companions who enjoy being close to their people.

They can also be remarkably entertaining.

Their expressions, stubborn moments, playful habits, and larger-than-life personalities are part of what made Abner fall in love with the breed in the first place and why English Bulldogs remain such an important part of Kings Family Companions today.

Boston Terriers We Love

Boston Terriers bring a different kind of personality to the King household.

Often energetic, friendly, curious, and eager to be involved in whatever their family is doing, Boston Terriers can make wonderful companions for families who enjoy an interactive little dog with plenty of character.

Their manageable size combined with their playful personalities makes them appealing to many different kinds of homes.

The King family enjoys both breeds for different reasons and understands that choosing the right puppy begins with understanding what kind of companion best fits a family’s lifestyle.

Helping Puppies Begin Well

The King family believes responsible breeding means thinking beyond the day a puppy leaves their home.

The care a puppy receives during its earliest weeks establishes an important foundation for what comes next.

That means providing proper care, maintaining a clean and healthy environment, giving puppies opportunities for regular interaction, and paying attention to their individual development as they grow.

It also means recognizing that every puppy is different.

Some puppies naturally become the adventurous ones of the litter. Others are more relaxed or affectionate. Some want to investigate everything around them, while others are happiest sitting close to someone.

Watching those personalities develop is one of the things the King family enjoys most about raising puppies.

Helping Families Find the Right Companion

Choosing a puppy is an exciting decision, but it is also an important one.

A puppy may be part of a family for the next decade or longer, sharing ordinary days, family celebrations, vacations, difficult seasons, and countless moments in between.

The King family wants families to approach that decision thoughtfully.

They are happy to help prospective puppy families learn more about their available English Bulldog and Boston Terrier puppies and better understand which puppy may be a good fit for their home.

For Kings Family Companions, the goal is not simply to find someone who wants a puppy.

The goal is to help each puppy find a family where they can truly become a companion.

If you are searching for an English Bulldog puppy or Boston Terrier puppy in Pennsylvania, Kings Family Companions would be honored to introduce you to their puppies, answer your questions, and help you find a companion who can become part of your family for years to come.
